UNITED NATIONS OFFICE ON DRUGS AND CRIME

AGENDA ITEM I : DISRUPTING THE INCREASE OF DRUG TRAFFICKING SUPPLY CHAINS THROUGH ECONOMIC AND DEVELOPMENTAL INTERVENTIONS

AGENDA ITEM II : UNDERSTANDING THE ROOT CAUSES OF KNIFE CRIME AND YOUTH
VIOLENCE

Dear Esteemed Delegates
The vast and simple realities of geography are deeply tied to your fate. The thousand steps you take to escape the troubled neighborhoods of cities advance you one step forward from that life, but a single step taken backward can bring you right back to
where you started. However, let us remember, “How you fall doesn’t matter. It’s how you land!”

In the UNODC committee, we confront the urgent need to disrupt escalating drug trafficking supply chains through targeted economic and developmental interventions. These measures are essential to dismantle the networks that perpetuate addiction
and violence in our communities. Additionally, we must turn our attention to the knife crime crisis, exploring its root causes—issues like socio-economic disparity, lack of educational opportunities, and social isolation that often lead our youth toward violence.

Together, we can advocate for comprehensive solutions that not only address these crises but also empower individuals and communities to rise above their circumstances. Your insights and commitment to these pressing issues are vital as we shape effective strategies for a safer and more just world.
