SOCHUM (Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee) is a subsidiary body of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) tasked with addressing social, humanitarian, and cultural issues. This time, SOCHUM will look into the pressing effects of social media, focusing on the psychological and social impacts of FOMO and the prevalence of gender-based violence. Delegates will discuss strategies to decrease FOMO’s negative effects, prevent gender-based violence both offline and online, and influence healthier digital environments. SOCHUM offers a platform for delegates to engage in meaningful discussions, negotiate solutions, and contribute to the development of international policies addressing these challenges.
